Tuffman Tail Lifts is an Australian owned and operated business with the sole purpose of designing, manufacturing and distributing hydraulic tail lifts for the transport and logistics industries.
Tuffman is the Australian distributor for Bär Cargolift, one of the largest manufacturers of tail lifts in Europe. Bär Cargolift offer tail lifts for all applications and vehicle catagories with lifting capacities from 500kg up to 3,000kg. All products are manufactured in-house at the company’s main facility in Heilbronn, Germany, where the first Bär tail lift was designed and manufactured by Gerd Bär over 30 years ago.
Tuffman also manufactures their our own range of tail lifts, designed and manufactured by Tuffman right here in Australia, Tuffman controls every facet of the process from current model range development and new product concepts through to the testing and manufacture stage. We also look after all your spare parts and servicing requirements with a large range of components and national mobile servicing capability.
Tuffman purchased the Tieman Tail Lift business in early 2017 and has continued to support The Tieman Tail Lift product range with a huge range of spare parts, manufactured and stocked in Melbourne, Australia.

Tuffman opens Melbourne Head Office
Tuffman opens new Melbourne based Head Office. A few weeks after purchasing the Tieman Tail Lift buisness, Tuffman moved into their new premises in the Eastern Melbourne suburb of Kilsyth South. The new site houses the companies administration and engineering department as well as a fully equipped workshop and spare parts department.

Wastech acquired the Tieman Tail Lift buisness, a week after acquiring the Tieman service fleet buisness. Tail Lift business moves to new premises
Tieman moves from its historic home in Keon Park to new larger premises in Campbellfield, consolidating all manufacturing and bringing together both the tailgate and material handling operations at the one site.

Manufacture moves to Thailand
In 1987 Tieman moved manufacturing of their range of tail lifts to Thailand. The move was forced by an acute nationwide shortage of tradesmen for factory work which made it impractical to build them in-house.

Sales for the Tail Lift and materials handling exceeded $1 million for the first time in 1987.

Tieman branches out
In 1975 Tieman Industries made a major decision to specialise in tail lifts, tankers and material handling equipment. This decision led to the company progressively becoming a leading specialist in the chosen product areas.
